Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best age to start piano lessons?

We recommend not starting before age 5. Students should be able to count, recognize, and read numbers 1-10. Students should also be able to recognize, write, and read the letters: A,B,C,D,E,F and G. The most important indicator is the child’s interest! If the student does not want lessons,

there is no use in forcing it.

Will I need to buy a piano?

Practicing is essential to progress. Since practice takes place outside of the studio, a suitable instrument is necessary. A well-tuned acoustic piano is ideal, but a quality keyboard is adequate for practice. We recommend that the keyboard have at least 61 full-sized, touch-sensitive keys (76 keys is even better!).

During group lessons, will every student have a chance to play?

The Music Box Piano Studio has two piano labs. Both classrooms are equipped with enough digital pianos to allow each student to play their own piano during class.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

Each additional member of the same household will receive a $5 monthly tuition discount.

When is the best time to sign up?

New classes are starting throughout the year. Call the studio to check for availability.
